Stand with Residents at Continental for Better Conditions
Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
Being institutionalized is a frightening experience, but it becomes even worse when basic health and safety needs are not met. Residents at Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are facing unacceptable conditions that put their well-being at risk on a daily basis.
Serious concerns of residents of Continental include:
- A wound care nurse is only available three days a week, leaving overworked nurses to handle critical wound care on top of their regular duties, including medication administration, trach care, tube feedings, dialysis prep, and hospital transfers.
- Showers are not properly cleaned and lack accessibility for those using shower beds or large shower chairs. The showerheads have extremely poor water pressure, and do not maintain a safe temperature. Detachable showerheads also do not function properly.
- Residents are not provided with fresh fruits and vegetables, portion sizes are inadequate, and meals are overly processed which inhibits proper health and recovery.
- Residents face unnecessary hurdles just to obtain a pass to go outside for fresh air, negatively affecting their mental and physical well-being.

I am writing to express my concerns about the conditions at Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as reported by residents. No one should have to endure inadequate care, unsanitary facilities, or poor nutrition, especially those who depend on nursing staff.
Residents have reported inadequate wound care due to your nurses being overworked and overwhelmed, unsafe and unsanitary facilities, lack of nutritional food provided, and limited outdoor access due to unnecessary barriers set by Continental.
These conditions are unacceptable. Residents of your facility deserve dignified, high-quality care. As a concerned member of the community, I urge you to act swiftly to address these critical concerns.
