Schools in Illinois are being starved on purpose. Illinois is the 15th-wealthiest state in the country, but it ranks near the bottom, at No. 47, for spending on education, healthcare and human services. This deliberate underfunding of public education is unacceptable and, quite frankly, immoral. The students of Chicago deserve better.
