Stop Direct File, Stop the Injustice Against Black Boys

Of juveniles arrested in Florida, black boys are twice as likely as white boys to be directly tried as adults—also known as direct file. This needs to stop. Excessive incarceration is tearing too many families apart, and black as well as Latino boys are routinely threatened and humiliated by racial profiling.

Florida has more kids in adult prison than the next 28 states combined. And this disproportionately affects black boys who—once their case reaches the prosecutor’s desk, are twice as likely to be tried as adults.
Too many of our children are being shoved into the school-to-prison pipeline. We demand you take action now—against direct file and the racial injustice it promotes.
