Stop the anti-public-school attempt to break-up our school districts

Anti-public school state legislators are at it again, pushing House Bill 1679, a bill that would require the break-up of cooperative school districts.
Under this proposal, the state would force cooperative school
districts to disband – a drastic upheaval that would arbitrarily disrupt the
education of hundreds of students, destroying an educational model that has
been successful for decades in our state. The bill would force towns to either
suddenly set up their own school districts, or pay per-pupil tuition to farm
students out to other public or private schools.
This would incur huge costs for districts (and likely raise your
property taxes). But much worse, it could suddenly leave students without the schools, teachers,
staff, services, programs (such as sports and art), and friendships
they’ve always had.
Our kids need resources and stability right now, not more disruption and trauma.
Add your name to our letter to the House
Education Committee now to tell the House Education Committee to put the brakes
on HB 1679.
It’s the wrong move for our kids, our towns, and
our right to a democratic say in how our local schools are run.

After everything our children have been through with the pandemic, inflicting more disruption and uncertainty on them is simply cruel. That’s why I’m asking you to stop House Bill 1679. This bill would destroy the cooperative school districts that have served New Hampshire children so well for decades. Cooperative schools allow small districts to band together to share school buildings, teachers, staff, and operating and administrative costs—giving students in smaller towns access to academics, sports, art, music, and other services and programs their town alone can’t offer.
This bill is just another attempt by anti-public school extremists to set up a backdoor school privatization program and make local taxpayers foot the bill. Polling shows, this is not what Granite Staters want. Please stop HB 1679 in its tracks and focus on investing in the great public schools our kids deserve.
