Stop the Camping Ban in Pensacola
Pensacola City Council, Mayor of Pensacola
A ban on public and private camping would criminalize homelessness and leave our most vulnerable without an option for housing. It would make our housless neighbors vulnerable to being criminally prosecuted and fined without a plan to house or take care of them.
Banning camping in Pensacola will only push people into the county where they do not have the resources or a plan of action to ensure people are cared for.
We will be delivering signatures of those who sign to council so they know you oppose this ban. The council is meeting on October 10th at 5:30PM at 222 W Main Street Pensacola, FL 32502. You can view the city council meeting agenda here.

As a resident of Pensacola I oppose criminalizing our houseless neighbors. During a nationwide crisis of affordability and availability of housing and soaring rents, we cannot push already marginalized people fully into the margins.
While it's been presented that this measure would "not be enforced" until adequate housing is provided, this assurance would be in name only. I urge you to vote no on a camping ban which will lead to our most vulnerable being prosecuted and fined.
This ban would push people into Escambia county where there are not adequate resources to support this population.
I urge you to vote no on the proposals to ban camping in Pensacola.
