Stop the Danskammer Energy Plant
Governor Hochul
The old Danskammer Power Plant in the town of Newburgh is currently under a proposal to rebuild into a 550 MV fracked gas plant. This will pose huge risks to the air and water of the local community and increasing New York’s reliance on fossil fuels.
We need to move away from dirty fossil fuels and towards renewable energies -- Danskammer would be a huge step in the wrong direction.

Please move New York off of fossil fuels and stop the proposed Danskammer Energy Center fracked gas plant in the town of Newburgh.
Danskammer is an unsustainable fossil-fuel power plant located in Newburgh, NY which was built over 60 years ago and currently, due to its old infrastructure, runs less than five percent of the time. However, there is a proposal to replace the current facility with one that will run over 70 percent of the time - virtually nonstop.
This expansion will increase New York State’s reliance on fossil-fuels and prolong our transition to 100 percent renewable energy. The climate crisis needs immediate addressing, this means rejecting any and all fossil fuel projects in New York.
We urge you to stop the Danskammer fracked gas power plant and to make a firm commitment to move New York to 100% renewable energy.
