The GTN Xpress is a proposed pipeline expansion project by TC Energy, the same company responsible for the devastating Keystone Pipeline spill and shocking Virginia gas pipeline explosion earlier this year. This expansion aims to increase the volume of fracked gas by a staggering 150 million cubic feet per day through the aging Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) Pipeline.
If approved, this project would commit the Northwest to costly fossil fuel energy for decades, putting nearby communities at risk of disaster and wildfire, perpetuating fracking on Tribal lands, and worsening the climate crisis.
Immediate Danger:
TC Energy's track record raises serious concerns about the safety of the existing GTN pipeline, let alone an expansion to transport such a high volume of fracked gas. This jeopardizes the safety of communities in tinder-dry eastern Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The mounting pressure on the GTN pipeline increases the risk of explosions and fires. Each year, wildfires in the Pacific Northwest grow more severe, making the expansion of this pipeline a clear and imminent threat to our health and safety. Notably, this project has faced opposition from numerous environmental justice groups, activists, tribal governments, and Senators from Washington, Oregon, and California.

Corporations like TC Energy are now prioritizing pipeline expansions, often sidestepping crucial regulations and leaving communities exposed to potential disasters.
