Stop the secret plan to privatise Australia Post

Prime Minister Scott Morrison

Australia Post is an iconic and vital service that many Australian’s rely on and it deserves to be protected.

We heard through the Senate Inquiry into Australia Post what many Australia Post workers had long suspected – the Morrison Government has been working on a secret plan to privatise Australia Post.

Former Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate revealed that a report by private consulting firm Boston Consulting Group recommends privatising parcel post and ending financial services in post offices.

Australia Post is more than just a government business to be flogged off to Liberal party mates. It provides critical services to our community. History has shown us that privatisation of public services usually results in someone making more money off of us, not the community getting more for their money.

If you want Australia Post to stay in public hands sign our petition calling on the Prime Minister to rule out the privatisation to Australia Post and publicly release the Boston Consulting Group report in full.

I want the assurance that decisions about the future of Australia Post are being made with community members’ and workers’ welfare in mind, not short-sighted profit margins and one-eyed ideology.

I believe it is in the public interest to maintain public ownership of Australia Post and am calling on you to rule out the privatisation of Australia Post and publicly release the full Boston Consulting Group report.

I look forward to your response.
