Stop denying care! Greed makes us sick.

Insurance Companies and Public Officials

An orange prescription pill bottle with a price tag featuring dollar signs hangs on a bright blue background. The words 'CARE OVER COST' appear in bold letters beside it. The logo for People's Action Institute is placed in the top right corner.

Profit-seeking insurance companies are causing a crisis of health care denials in the United States.

Private health care insurance corporations in our country deny care over 248 million times per year, and almost every family in the U.S. will experience the outrage of having a trusted provider prescribe or recommend a treatment only to have an insurance company like UnitedHealthcare say no. When insurers get in the way, the results can be dire: we or our loved ones getting sicker, scrambling to pay out of pocket for care, and running the risk of falling into medical debt or bankruptcy.

This has to stop.

Sign this petition to demand Health Care Insurance corporations and elected officials: Stop denying care and put people over profit.

Stop denying care.

A patient’s care is between them & their medical professionals.

Private insurance corporations should not deny or delay any care recommended by a patient’s medical professional(s), which includes but is not limited to:

Stop denying our care: ban prior authorization denials.

Cover the cost & expedite the payments of any care recommended by a patient’s medical professional(s) rather than sticking people who need care with the bill

Banning step therapy, which forces people to take different medicines that may not work

Put people over profit, greed makes us sick!

Elected officials need to act immediately on the following urgent issues to ensure that Americans get the health care they need and deserve.

Health care is for people, not corporate profits.

The profit gains of private insurance companies should not be the objective of our country’s health care system. Gains and improvements in people’s health outcomes should be. Elected officials must make insurance companies accountable to us and the public interest; not the interests of private equity and Wall Street.

They must:

Stop profit-seeking private insurance corporations who are overcharging Medicare and other public programs we rely on. It is past time for elected officials to

Protect and expand Medicare, and reduce and eliminate Medicare (dis)Advantage.

Protect and expand Medicaid, and reduce and eliminate managed care organizations (private insurance corporations that profit off of public money rather than delivering it to people who need care.)

Refuse to take political contributions and donations of any kind from private insurance companies.

The signatories of this petition demand to be heard. Our healthcare system is broken, and action is needed. People’s Action Institute and the organization's members of the Care Over Cost coalition will continue to provide Americans with a channel for peaceful and democratic action on this issue until the leadership of the health care insurance corporations and our elected officials respond to people’s demand: Stop denying care! Put people over profits!

After signing this petition, you will receive SMS and email updates from People's Action Institute and People's Action Network affiliates.
