Sign Now: Demand Congress strengthen the Office of Government Ethics

President Trump & All Members of Congress

In the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency, five Cabinet secretaries have been investigated for improper use of taxpayer money.

This list now includes Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin who has come under fire in a new report alleging a “misuse of VA resources” including “extensive use of official time.”

This pattern of behavior by White House Cabinet members is unacceptable and undermines the American people’s trust in government.

Sign the petition calling on Congress and the White House to strengthen the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) to authorize its investigative powers of high-ranking employees―providing it with subpoena power and the ability to issue civil penalties for ethics violations.

In the first year of the Trump administration, five different Cabinet secretaries have come under investigation for ethics violations and potential misuse of taxpayer money, including the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, and now including a report on Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin alleging a “misuse of VA resources” and “extensive use of official time.”

We call on Congress and the president to strengthen the Office of Government Ethics―giving it necessary oversight power of the executive branch to hold our public servants accountable. The behavior by certain members of the executive branch continues to undermine the American people’s trust in government. It is up to Congress and the president to restore that trust.
