SU Fair Parking Petitioning
Chancellor Kent Syverud and Parking Director Joseph Carfi
As SU staff, students, and faculty, we face unreasonably high parking rates, lack of consistent and timely shuttle service, and a lack of transparency as to how parking prices are decided. For this reason, we have decided to come together and take action.
We are organized under the banner of United Syracuse, a coalition of staff, students, and faculty at Syracuse University taking action together to improve our institution. We are custodians, graduate teaching assistants, administrative assistants, tenured and non-tenure track faculty. SU works because we do. You can find our petition for fair parking below!

As staff, students, and faculty, we face unreasonably high parking rates, lack of consistent and timely shuttle service, and a lack of transparency as to how parking prices are decided. For this reason, the undersigned call upon Chancellor Kent Syverud and Parking Director Joseph Carfi to:
– Rescind the 2023-2024 staff and faculty parking fee increase to account for rising cost and insufficient pay increases
– Increase shuttle service for faculty, staff, and students to ensure accessibility for all members of our campus community
– Create a new parking committee made up of non-managerial representatives from staff, faculty, and student stakeholders on campus, along with their unions, empowered to make improvements to the SU parking fee structure and shuttle service moving forward
