The Carpinteria Architectural Review Board will be hearing the The Carpinteria Farm Preserve & Bungalows Retreat project on January 25th. This plan is a collaboration between a commercial developer proposing a 99-room bungalow retreat and People's Self-Help Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer proposing 41 apartments. The overall project would preserve open space on 70% of the coastline property, making available public access to what is now a private property.

Please support this plan to bring much-needed affordable housing to Carpinteria while preserving coastal access for all.

The median home price in Carpinteria is $2M, and opportunities to provide new affordable housing for those households earning less than the median are few and far between. Affordable housing is in high demand, and it's especially needed by frontline essential workers providing local services.

In addition to affordable housing, the overall project would preserve open space on 70% of the coastline property, making what is currently a private property available to the public.
