Support Economic Freedom: Vote No on SB 1968

Texas House of Representatives

The Texas Senate passed a full scale assault on the economic freedom of every public employee in the state.

Their bill, Senate Bill 1968, prohibits most public employees like nurses, teachers, and correctional officers from voluntarily submitting dues to the organization of their choice from their paycheck.

Yes, you read that right. Some politicians in Austin think its o.k. for them to decide what organizations nurses, teachers, and correctional officers choose to support through voluntary deductions from their paycheck.

They want to make it harder for these hard working public servants to have a voice in their workplace even though other types of deductions are still allowed. Especially those lobbied for by big banks and financial interests.

Sign our petition and tell the House of Representatives to vote no on SB 1968.

As concerned citizens we ask that you oppose Senate Bill 1968, authored by Senator Huffman, when it comes before you.

Senate Bill 1968 removes the ability of teachers, nurses, correctional officers, and other public employees to voluntarily join an employee organization and pay dues through deductions from their paycheck. This bill is an unnecessary and divisive attack on their personal economic freedom.

We strongly urge you to reject Senate Bill 1968 and stand up for the economic freedom of Texas’ public employees.
