Support ISBE’s rule change to help ALL students feel supported
Members of the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules in the Illinois General Assembly
The mission of the Illinois Education Association and the Illinois Federation of Teachers is to provide an equitable education to all students regardless of their religion, sexual orientation or race. We know that when we can better understand the social and emotional needs of our students we can provide them with a better education.
A proposed rule change by the Illinois State Board of Education that would require those studying to become teachers to take a class to better understand how to welcome and support ALL students in their classrooms, and to allow for more professional development for practicing teachers to do the same, is set to come before the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules for approval.
