I support a fair contract for UVM faculty!

UVM administration

UVM's faculty union, United Academics, is currently negotiating with the university administration for a new collective bargaining agreement for the next three years.

UVM has admitted record high numbers of students in the past three years; at the same time, hiring and retention of both faculty and staff has stagnated or shrunk. With job positions left unfilled or cut, staff and faculty are shouldering a heavier burden of work supporting more students.

UVM faculty are committed to providing our students a world class education, but cannot fulfill this responsibility to UVM students or families within the current climate. Many UVM faculty have unmanageable workloads, little to no job security, and are making salaries so low they cannot afford housing and other essentials. It is irresponsible to ask faculty members to shoulder this economic burden while disregarding both our professionalism and the terms of our current bargaining agreement.

Our union is negotiating a contract that will improve minimum salaries for the lowest paid teaching faculty, make up for huge cost of living increases, ensure equitable benefits and additional job security and promotion opportunities for teaching faculty. Stand with us!
