We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in our country’s future. But we’re up against conservatives and Corporate America who want to protect corporate profits at all cost.

President Biden is proposing to raise $2.5 trillion by making America’s corporations begin to pay their fair share of taxes. He wants to use that revenue to fund his American Jobs Plan -- a historic $2.3 trillion package that invests in infrastructure and green energy jobs and also funds affordable housing, home and community-based care for the elderly and people with disabilities, and robust research and development, workforce development and innovative manufacturing to make America more economically competitive.  

Biden’s Made in America Tax Plan raises $2.5 trillion by increasing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, closing loopholes that have incentivized multinational corporations to outsource jobs and shift profits to offshore tax havens, placing a 15% minimum tax on corporations so they can’t get away with paying $0 in taxes, ending fossil fuel tax subsidies and more.

Congressional Republicans are fiercely opposing both measures, and Corporate America’s army of lobbyists are joining them in trying to block the proposed corporate tax increases. These same corporations whose profits the GOP seeks to protect, paid in 2018 an average effective tax rate of under 8% due to the Trump-GOP tax scam. And 55 big corporations paid ZERO DOLLARS in federal income taxes last year.

In order to create an equitable recovery from this pandemic and build an economy that works for all of us, it’s time for corporations to pay their fair share in taxes.
