Take Down All AI-Written Books From Online Bookstores

Bookstore owners

As recently mentioned by The New York Times, it is currently many AI-written books circulating online bookstores. These books are books on travel, gardening, cooking, programming, medicine, business, crafts, mathematics, religion, novels, and self-help books.

What makes them so dangerous is that they're poorly executed: poorly edited (or not at all) and not researched. There is an AI-written book on how to identify edible mushrooms, a book which could kill. Also, books on foraging herbs, plants, medicine, gardening, crafts, and self-help could be lethal if executed wrongly. The rest of the books could leave you without an edible meal or stranded at a hotel that is no longer open. Neither is anything you would want to read.

To fool the buyer, these books have many false reviews (generated by AI), often take a famous author's name and these AI-written books are everywhere where you can buy books online.

But it's not only readers who are affected by AI-written books. Real authors and writers get no compensation for the text that the AI companies have stolen from them.

The online bookstores do too little to get rid of these AI-written books. "Amazon is constantly evaluating emerging technologies," Lindsay Hamilton a spokesperson for Amazon said to Axios recently. "[But we have] zero tolerance for fake reviews." So, it's up to us to take a stand and sign this petition.

For the sake of readers, authors, and writers everywhere: take down all AI-written books!

Hi,

"[But we have] zero tolerance for fake reviews."

So, I urge you to take down every single AI-written book from your online stores!

Urgent regards,
