Tell the Senate: Pass the For the People Act

U.S. Senate

We need a democracy where eligible voters are protected from discrimination -- and can always make themselves heard at the ballot box.

A democracy where electoral districts are drawn fairly, so that each voter’s ballot is worth the same.

And a democracy where ordinary Americans -- more women, people of color, and working people -- can run for office without relying on special interest Big Money.

That's why we're urging the Senate to pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1/ S. 1) -- a once-in-a-generation piece of legislation that the House signed off on earlier this year. This bill would make our political system more inclusive, responsive, and representative of the American people.

In March 2019, the For the People Act passed the House with unanimous support from the Democratic caucus. And it had the support of every Democrat in the Senate -- yet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to bring it up for a vote.

Now, we're renewing our fight for this all-important bill. Add your name to demand that the Senate makes a bold show of support for our democracy -- and passes the For the People Act.

The Senate must follow the House's lead and pass the For The People Act (H.R. 1/ S. 1) -- a bold, comprehensive package of solutions including: independent redistricting commissions, citizen-funded elections, closing the revolving door between government and corporate interests, and protecting voters against discrimination.
