Tell Congress: Protect Consumers from SCAMS

Members of Congress

protect consumers against scams with the consumer financial protection bureau

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (also known as CFCB) is under attack. The CFCB protects consumers and vulnerable groups like servicemembers, veterans, students, and older Americans, by setting and enforcing rules that protect consumers from scams, predatory lenders, and discrimination. Only 12 years old, the CFCB has put back 17.5 billion in Americans’ pockets in the form of monetary compensation, principal reductions, canceled debts, and other consumer relief resulting from CFPB enforcement and supervision works.

Unfortunately, bad financial actors are pushing for a rollback of protections in Congress and a case to be heard in the Supreme Court that will decimate protections for any financial transaction involving a home, auto, payday loans, credit cards, debit accounts, fintech products, and more.

Can you take (one) minute and sign on to a joint letter to Members of Congress to protect consumers from SCAMS?

Dear Member of Congress,

You were elected to represent and protect your constituents. I am asking that you step up and support protecting consumers.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (also known as CFCB) is under attack, and I would ask that you support legislation that strengthens consumer protections.

I am completely against the proposed H.R. 2798, the CFPB Transparency and Accountability Reform Act because this bill is misleading and would harm consumers. Congress should not be allowed to politicize an agency protecting consumers by way of threatening to pull funding on a whim. Protecting consumers should be bi-partisan.

I urge you to protect consumers in all bills that you vote on and ask that you seek ways to strengthen the work of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Sincerely,
