Tell Congress: Reject cuts to food stamps just to pay for tax breaks for the rich and corporations

All members of the U.S. House of Representatives

On the heels of passing massive tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, House Republicans now want to cut about $20 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps.

SNAP assures adequate nutrition to 40 million people (about 1 in 8 Americans)―including 20 million children.

Paul Ryan and the House are planning to vote on this disastrous bill next week. We must fight back!

Sign the petition demanding Congress oppose any cuts to food stamps. Instead, it should work to repeal the Trump-GOP tax breaks that mostly benefit the wealthy and corporations.

The richest 1% are getting a tax cut worth $70 billion this year due to the Trump-GOP tax law. Meanwhile, House Republicans are proposing a $20 billion cut to SNAP, which provides critical nutrition assistance to 40 million people each year including children, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. We demand that you reject any bill that cuts food stamps and other critical services for working families. Instead, you should repeal the tax breaks you gave to the richest 1% and wealthy corporations so we can strengthen SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, education and other critical services.
