Thus far this year, Big Oil giants have made over $300 billion, and paid out their wealthy shareholders. The industry has been leveraging the crisis in Ukraine as an excuse to push for more drilling domestically while raising gas prices and protecting its bottom line. Congress can enact stronger measures to stop the oil profiteering and provide an alternate way forward for the Biden administration—one that is much smarter and safer than the oil industry's plan to drill more, raise inflation rates, and build additional export infrastructure. We urge you to stand with working people: start by passing a windfall tax that makes Big Oil pay a tax on their profits to fund checks for every American.
