After years of promising to “drain the swamp” and reduce the influence of corporate special interests in government, Trump is building an administration that maximizes profits his corporate friends — all at the expense of the needs and well-being of working families.

Corporate lobbyists, top executives of big corporations, and prominent corporate consultants that don’t have the best interests of the public at heart should have no place in the White House. But it seems Trump’s picks for key roles will favor Wall Street, Big Tech, military contractors, Big Pharma, the health insurance industry, fossil fuels, and other corporate interests.

Unfortunately, the revolving door between big corporations and government has been a longstanding issue, leading to conflicts of interest and harmful policies under both Democratic and Republican presidents. Trump’s promises and legacy must be judged by whether this administration falls into this same pattern.

We urge President-elect Trump to keep his populist promises and put the American people first.
