Tell DSS To Telecommute

DSS Comissioner Gifford

The Department of Social Services needs to focus on protecting the safety and health of front line staff who deliver critical, life-saving benefits to Connecticut residents in need.

The best way to do that is to get DSS to provide front-line workers with the technology they need to provide those benefits from the safety of our homes.

If you are a member of AFSCME Local 714, please take a minute to sign the survey to DSS Commissioner Deidre Gifford.

Thank you.

We, the frontline employees of the state Department of Social Services, want to work.

Your plan to rotate us through our crowded offices is unsafe and unhealthy.

We want to provide the critical benefits that Connecticut’s most vulnerable need right now.

But your plan to make us work in our crowded offices is unsafe and unhealthy.

We must continue to provide benefits.

For us to do so we must remain healthy.

We need the technology and equipment for all of us to work from home all of the time.

We needed it 4 weeks ago—but we need it now.

It’s not complicated or expensive. Please get this done, send us home.

We’ll do the work, and by staying safe and healthy, we’ll be able to keep doing the work for the duration of the pandemic.

Thank you.
