Tell Facebook: we want answers, now.

Facebook

Bombshell news stories are shedding light on the ways that Facebook’s practices have endangered our privacy and undermined our democracy. The Cambridge Analytica story highlights the ways that our data can be used against us, but it only scratches the surface. This is not about partisan politics. Both Democrats and Republicans have exploited Facebook’s lax data practices. Facebook has been caught in the past conducting unethical experiments, attempting to manipulate millions of people’s emotional states, and trampling user privacy and safety in pursuit of profit.

This needs to stop. But to even know how to fix the problem, we need Facebook to come clean about exactly how our data has been harvested and used.

Sign the petition to tell Facebook: “We want answers, now. Immediately release all internal documents related to data harvesting operations like the one Cambridge Analytica was caught running. We demand full transparency about how our data has been collected and used, and who it has been shared with. Facebook needs to protect our data by default, and ensure that it is never shared or sold without the explicit consent and knowledge of Facebook users.”
