Tell Lindsey Graham: No SCOTUS confirmations until after Inauguration Day

Senator Lindsey Graham

Senator Lindsey Graham led the fight against the confirmation of Merrick Garland in 2016 due to it being an election year. He cannot participate in the confirmation of a SCOTUS Justice days before the 2020 election

Dear Senator Lindsey Graham,

From the Senate Judiciary Committee, you said, “I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a Republican President in 2016, and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say ‘Lindsey Graham said let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination,’ and you could use my words against me, and you’d be absolutely right.”

Well, here we are. With the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg occurring while voters are already casting votes in the election, surely we must hold the confirmation process until AFTER the inauguration.

We need to know that you’re not full of empty promises, but that you actually meant what you said then. That the next president should make the nomination.
