Tell Mayor Bowser: Fund Domestic Violence Service Providers and End Domestic Violence!

Mayor Bowser, Washington, DC

DCCADV is calling for the Mayor to consider our budget platform for her proposed FY2025 budget. DCCADV’s FY25 budget platform centers critical funding required to meet the needs of survivors while beginning to invest in the prevention necessary to decrease domestic violence and the ever-increasing demands for services. Each service area highlights an important aspect of support provided by our coalition of 18 member programs that survivors rely on to access safety, maintain security, and progress on their healing journey.

To address the True Cost of Survivor Safety, we need to go beyond FY24 funding levels and are asking the Mayor and DC Council for $30 million in additional recurring funds over FY24. This funding will help secure legal services, housing needs, mental health counseling, language access, and other needed services for survivors and their families in Washington, DC.

Sign the petition and let Mayor Bowser know that we can't meet the needs of survivors without adequate funding! Support DCCADV's funding platform and address the True Cost of Survivor Safety!

Dear Mayor Bowser,

We are writing to you today to encourage you to fund critical services for domestic violence survivors. Right now, domestic violence service providers are in critical need of additional funding to address the True Cost of Survivor Safety.

DCCADV is advocating for $30M in additional recurring funds over FY24. Their budget platform centers on critical funding required to meet the needs of survivors while beginning to invest in the prevention necessary to decrease domestic violence and the ever-increasing demands for services. To meet survivor's needs, DC must prioritize fortifying crucial services like housing, mental health counseling, legal services, language access, and more. In addition, service providers will struggle to survive without funding to help maintain organizational viability and sustainability.

We support the full DCCADV budget platform: https://www.dccadv.org/take-action/budget-platform/. With the increasing reports of domestic violence in DC, it is irresponsible for the DC government to not fund the crucial work that service providers contribute to the community. Without funding, violence will continue to increase in DC.

Please do your part to eradicate domestic violence in the District and consider DCCADV's budget platform for FY25.

Thank you for supporting survivors,
