Save Rooftop Solar in Oregon
Maria Pope, CEO of Portland General Electric
Portland General Electric (PGE) is pushing a plan to make rooftop solar more expensive at a time when they should make it less so. Their draft proposal would slash the credit you get for sharing your extra energy with the grid, undermining the savings that consumers get from solar.
If PGE gets their way, rooftop solar will become more expensive for everyday Oregonians, just when it is becoming more available. Working people who are already struggling with high electricity bills will have fewer options to control their household costs. We should be giving the public more control over their energy bills, not less!
PGE's draft proposal would also penalize customers who can't afford to buy a battery with their solar system. That's the wrong approach. Instead of penalizing customers that can't afford batteries, PGE should make solar and batteries more available to all their customers.
Rooftop solar is a critical part of helping Oregon's environment and PGE should be supporting solar, not rolling it back.

With the cost of living skyrocketing for working Oregonians, utilities should make rooftop solar and batteries more available to everyday people, not less.
Unfortunately, PGE's draft proposal will go in the opposite direction with a drastic cut in the consumer solar credit.
These changes would penalize customers that cannot afford battery storage. Instead of putting restrictions on solar, PGE should be incentivizing solar and storage.
PGE's draft proposal will make rooftop solar and batteries more expensive for everyday Oregonians. It will also undermine the public trust in the state's clean energy programs going forward.
This is the wrong direction for Oregon, working people, and the state's clean energy progress.
