Tell Secretary White: Stop Stonewalling -- Protect Our Votes!

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White

Two years ago – with your help – our state passed Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) into law. It was a major step forward for the security and accessibility of Illinois elections.

But since then, the Secretary of State’s office has been dragging its feet on implementing AVR – and now, they’re putting the integrity of our voting system at risk.

Now, we're telling the Secretary of State’s office that enough is enough. We’re giving them 20 days to comply with federal voting laws, commit to implementing AVR correctly, and ensure every eligible Illinois citizen can be heard. And if they don’t, we’re ready to go to court.

AVR was designed to make our voting system more accurate and fair; that’s why it was passed on a bipartisan and unanimous basis. And despite its sloppy and massively delayed rollout, around 25,000 eligible voters have been automatically registered to vote since July 2018.

We’ve come too far to let gridlock destroy this important reform. So, we delivered our final legal notice this week – and we need your voice to back it up. Please add your name to tell Secretary White -- stop stonewalling, and protect our votes >>

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office must properly implement Automatic Voter Registration, and share its plan to comply with all federal and state voting laws in a transparent and accountable fashion.
