2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates

Tell the 2020 Democratic Candidates: Progressives don’t let progressives go to AIPAC.

We call on you, as a Democrat grounded in progressive values, to #SkipAIPAC this year. Publicly commit to not speak on AIPAC’s stage, send in a video message, or attend any official or unofficial event affiliated with AIPAC’s 2020 Conference.

As AIPAC continues to give platforms to antisemites, Islamophobes, and white nationalists, the progressive movement calls on all Democratic presidential candidates to stop giving AIPAC political cover with their presence. For too long, AIPAC’s right-wing lobbying has shielded the Israeli government from any consequences for its actions and pushed for a blank check to Israel that has had disastrous effects for both Palestinians and Israelis.

It is time for all progressives to #SkipAIPAC.

At home and abroad, we are in a moment of crisis that demands progressive vision. The Trump administration just gave the Netanyahu government a green light for annexation and apartheid-like policies. Violent white nationalism and antisemitism in the U.S. are rising. And AIPAC has chosen to give Trump, Netanyahu, and white nationalists political cover.

AIPAC now anchors an unholy alliance that works to distract from right-wing antisemitism and entrench the Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian people. Progressives don’t let progressives go to AIPAC.

The road to the white house cannot run through AIPAC’s doors. It’s time for the progressive movement to demand that all 2020 Democratic candidates reject AIPAC’s form of politics and #SkipAIPAC. Sign our petition to the candidates now.

For too long, AIPAC’s actions and allies have prioritized unconditional support for the Israeli government over the safety of American Jews, Muslims, and other marginalized people in this country, all while AIPAC works against American values of freedom and justice.

Israel’s decades-long occupation has eroded the bipartisan consensus, and, in a last-ditch effort to maintain influence, AIPAC has forged a partnership between Trump, the GOP, Christian Zionists, and the Israeli far-right that works together to ensure that common-sense policy approaches to the crisis in Israel/Palestine never see the light of day.

AIPAC has given platforms to antisemites like Pastor John Hagee, who said that God sent Hilter, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, who brought a Holocaust denier to the 2018 state of the union. AIPAC has given platforms to Islamophobes like Steven Emerson who has spent decades spreading anti-Muslim misinformation and Frank Gaffney who is credited as one of the inspirations behind the Muslim ban. And, as violent hate crimes have skyrocketed in recent years, AIPAC has refused to condemn white nationalists from Donald Trump to Steve Bannon.

More than simply legitimizing the most extreme voices on the right, AIPAC has paved the way for Trump’s extremist approach to the Middle East, forcing our country within a hair of war with Iran and culminating in Trump’s plan for permanent occupation. The consequences of decades of AIPAC’s status quo has been disastrous for both Palestinians and Israelis. AIPAC’s right-wing lobbying works to shield the Israeli government from any consequences for entrenching the occupation and push for a blank check to Israel. 99.7% of the billions of dollars America gives to Israel is in military funds, which the Netanyahu government uses to violate the basic human rights of the Palestinian people.

Progressive Democrats running to be President are faced with a clear, moral choice this year: #SkipAIPAC and their unholy alliance and join us in fighting for a progressive future, where all people, including Palestinians and Israelis, can live with freedom and dignity?

The time is now to #SkipAIPAC.
