33% of Texas renters doubt their ability to pay July rent, and hundreds of thousands of Houston residents are potentially at risk. Yet in the midst of a historic crisis, federal and state authorities have failed to act to protect Houstonians from losing their homes due to COVID-19. It's time for our city leaders to step up.

We call on Mayor Sylvester Turner and the members of Houston City Council to immediately act to pass a grace period ordinance giving residents financially burdened as a result of COVID-19 a minimum of 60 days to pay their rent.
