TELL THE FEC: STOP MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FROM USING LEADERSHIP PACs AS SLUSH FUNDS

Federal Election Commission

The use of leadership PAC funds gets more and more blurred each year. We are now at the point where many members of Congress are using them ― legally ― as personal slush funds. Leadership PACs were intended to allow elected officials to donate to and support their colleagues. But Issue One research shows that a majority of leadership PAC funds are now spent on things other than supporting colleagues — and worse,  some members of Congress are using them to subsidize their own lifestyles with luxurious travel and entertainment.

Sign the petition to the Federal Election Commission and demand a prohibition on the “personal use” of leadership PAC funds and help stop the practice of special interests buying influence over our elected officials.

We demand that the FEC ban “personal use” of leadership PAC funds to stop politicians from misusing these PAC funds.

The American people’s faith in government requires transparency in Congress. And the legal use of special interest money to pay for five-star luxury resort vacations, expensive dinners, trips to theme parks and golf outings, tickets to sporting events and Broadway musicals, international travel and more only further undermines our faith in our democracy.

This must end.
