Right now the Missouri Legislature is attempting to pass a host of bills that are a direct assault on the rights of Trans Youth across the state from healthcare bans to sports bans.
Youth Sports Bans: These bills single out transgender students from sports and inevitably are policies that isolate transgender youth from participating in the entire school experience with peers and friends.
Anti-HealthCare Bills: These bills criminalize medical best practices for transgender youth; care that is backed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and other leading medical authorities.

With numerous bills filed that are a threat to trans youth in the state of Missouri, I am asking you to vote no on any bill that singles out and discriminates against trans youth by denying them healthcare or from participating in the sports they love.
Transgender kids, like other students, deserve the same chances to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and self-discipline, and to build a sense of belonging with their peers. Policies that single out transgender students from sports inevitably are policies that isolate transgender youth from participating in the entire school experience with peers and friends.
Denying best-practice care to transgender youth can be life-threatening. It has been shown to contribute to depression, social isolation, self-hatred, risk of self-harm, and more. Healthcare decisions for youth should be made by their healthcare provider and their parents who know what is best for their child, not politicians.
As a nation, we decided long ago that discrimination is wrong and that everyone should have the same opportunities to participate — that must include transgender youth.
