To the Salsa Board of Directors,
As current Salsa clients and partners, we are writing to express our grave concerns regarding the news coming out of Salsa about the abrupt change in leadership. We want a clear and unequivocal affirmation that the core culture, values and product direction that Salsa was built upon are not going to change.

As progressive nonprofit organizations, campaigns, and firms that support them, our social missions also guide our purchasing decisions. For many nonprofits, organizing technology is one of the largest line items in our budgets, and we are not agnostic in making our vendor choices. It is imperative that the leadership of Salsa understand that if our investment funds were to fund blood diamonds, our paper was sourced from virgin forests, or our health care providers discriminated against women, we would immediately be looking for ways to replace those vendors. If Salsa makes any move to support opponents to many of our values and campaigns it would be a serious violation of our trust and relationship to date.

We would like to arrange a conference call on Tuesday October 30 at 3 pm EST so that we may have the opportunity to express our concerns and ask questions directly of Scott Stouffer, the Board-appointed CEO.

Chris and April have not been passive administrators of a company, but have dedicated themselves to building a model that has helped shape the success of some of the progressive movement’s most important campaigns. In fact, it is their experience as organizers that gave them the insights into developing the tools, trainings and support that would be most effective to the campaigns and movement building efforts of organizations like ours. They have always been a part of the nonprofit community they serve. They are fellow advocates for the vision of progressive change and that is part of the unique value proposition of Salsa, not to mention Salsa’s key technical mastermind.

Without the leadership, technical direction and guiding values that Chris and April brought to Salsa, we are concerned as clients about the future direction and commitment of the company. It is imperative to us that we understand exactly what the vision for this company is.

We look forward to the Q&A session with the new CEO.
