Tell the U.S. government: Stand down and stop undermining UN climate talks

The Trump administration, in particular: U.S. State Dept (including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson), U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt

The Trump administration says it is pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement of the U.N. climate treaty.

Here’s the thing: The U.S. is actually not leaving the negotiations. In fact, it’s continuing to attend the climate treaty meeting solely for the purposes of bullying the rest of the world into advancing the fossil fuel industry’s obstructionist agenda.

Tell the Trump administration to stand down and stop undermining the climate talks so the world can advance people-first climate policies.

As people concerned about our future and the future of the planet, we demand the U.S. government:

· Stand down: Stay out of all negotiations concerning the Paris Agreement and its implementation.
· Stop representing the interests of Big Polluters in international climate negotiations.
· Pay its fair share to address the global climate crisis.

Since January, this administration has gutted nearly every climate policy integral to the United States’ commitments under the Paris Agreement, and has recklessly advanced the interests of Big Polluters.

To add insult to injury, the U.S. announced the intent to leave the Paris Agreement at the earliest opportunity, yet you remain part of the talks. There's no place in talks about the implementation of the Paris Agreement for an administration that refuses to negotiate in good faith, is reneging on its commitments, and is actively advancing the interests of Big Polluters over those of the people most harmed by climate change.

The global community will not stand for the continued bullying by the U.S. in these talks. The Paris Agreement negotiations are a place for governments serious about addressing climate change, not an administration of Big Polluter CEOs and climate deniers.
