Tell Uber: CEO Travis Kalanick Should Immediately Resign from Trump’s Advisory Council Over Immigration Ban

Uber Management

As you know, President Trump recently issued an executive order prohibiting citizens of seven majority Muslim countries from entering the U.S. for 90 days

Nine out of 10 drivers that power Uber in New York City are immigrants. Nearly 90% of the IDG drivers polled have told us that this ban either impacts them or their friends and families directly.

As a company whose success is built on a foundation of hard work by immigrant workers, Uber can and should do better to stand up for immigrants.

We’re calling on Uber CEO Travis Kalanick to immediately resign from President Trump’s advisory council.

Additionally, we’re calling on Uber to stand with its immigrant workers by:

  • Stating publicly that drivers will not be penalized for acting in protest of the immigration ban

  • Immediately institute in-app tipping to support immigrant workers in NYC

  • Make a substantial donation in support of the work of non-profit organizations fighting the immigration ban

Tell Uber to stand with immigrant drivers and take a strong stance against the immigration ban. Uber can and should do better.
