Thank Governor Wolf for working to reform the worst charter school law in the nation!

Governor Tom Wolf

For the first time in two decades, there is a real opportunity to fix Pennsylvania’s “worst charter school law in the nation”! With Governor Wolf’s leadership and bipartisan support building in the legislature, Pennsylvania could see real charter school reform in 2020.

Governor Wolf has championed commonsense charter school reforms that would

  • end the enormous profits charter schools reap from tuition payments for students with disabilities;
  • provide real cyber charter school tuition savings by matching cyber charter school tuition rates with the actual cost of educating a student at home on a computer, instead of the current system that wastes millions of taxpayer dollars each year; and
  • support equity in charter school enrollment and ensure stronger fiscal and academic accountability in the charter sector to protect taxpayers and better serve all students, and more.

We want Governor Wolf to know that as he continues to stand up for commonsense charter school reform, he will have the support of Pennsylvanians in every corner of the Commonwealth.

Will you sign this letter thanking Governor Wolf?

Thank you very much for your leadership in championing commonsense reforms to Pennsylvania’s charter school law that will protect taxpayers and strengthen public education for all students in PA by

• ending the enormous profits charter schools reap from tuition payments for students with disabilities;
• providing real cyber charter school tuition savings by matching cyber charter school tuition rates with the actual cost of educating a student at home on a computer, instead of the current system which wastes millions of taxpayer dollars; and
• supporting equity in charter school enrollment and ensuring stronger fiscal and academic accountability and transparency in the charter sector to protect taxpayers and better serve all students.

Pennsylvanians spend more than $1.8 billion in taxpayer money each year on charter school tuition bills. The reforms you have proposed are critical to holding charter schools accountable to taxpayers and the children they serve.

Your proposed reforms are welcome and long overdue. Thank you again for your leadership on this issue.
