Congress: Don’t let Trump block vote-by-mail

U.S. Congress

Donald Trump is whipping up his supporters against vote-by-mail -- spouting misinformation and fearmongering to block this proven reform.

Why? The president admitted it outright to Fox & Friends: he (wrongly) believes that if every eligible American is able to cast their vote, “you'd never have a Republican elected in this country again.”

That’s right -- the President of the United States openly stated that he doesn’t care if Americans are denied one of their most fundamental rights in our democracy… as long as it could benefit him and his party.

Whether they want to vote early, by mail, or in-person on Election Day, eligible Americans deserve to safely cast their ballot -- and know that their vote has been counted.

But Trump is now urging GOP lawmakers to block vote-by-mail because, according to him, it “doesn’t work out well for Republicans.” This completely ignores the fact that many Republican officials support vote-by-mail -- and that red states have successfully implemented these and similar reforms.

And perhaps most hypocritically: Trump himself voted by absentee ballot in Florida this year -- just like any eligible voter who wants to should be allowed to -- all while publicly calling this necessary reform “corrupt.”

Mail-in voting is a paper-based system that is not hackable, can easily be audited to ensure the election results are correct, and has already been tested and proven secure in states across the country. It works -- and it can help voters safely make themselves heard.

We must show Donald Trump just how wrong he is: EVERY eligible American should be able to vote, no matter who they want to vote for. Add your name to condemn the president’s remarks -- and urge Congress to expand vote-by-mail options wherever possible.

President Trump has made it clear: he doesn’t want eligible Americans to be able to vote by mail during the COVID-19 crisis -- because he thinks it’ll hurt his party’s chances of winning.

His remarks are outrageous. And in response, Congress must pass the vital reforms -- including expanded vote-by-mail, early voting, and online registration -- that’ll help voters make themselves heard.
