UCSD Health: Implement Bilingual Pay Now!

Last year, Teamsters Local 2010 won a historic new benefit for our University of California CX members: bilingual workers at UC Health Centers who use their language skills on the job would, with certification from the University, receive $50 biweekly in bilingual pay. But UC San Diego Health officials are now dragging their feet, blocking our members' pay!

After two meetings on UCSD's planned procedure for certifying bilingual employees, the Union expressed our support for the procedure and asked management to move quickly in implementing bilingual pay. However, after two months of waiting, management stated they have not yet approved the procedure and can provide no timeline for implementation. This delay is unacceptable. Many of our members have been utilizing their bilingual skills for years, especially in critical languages like Spanish and Vietnamese, and deserve to be compensated for their work as soon as possible.

We are calling on UCSD Health to stop the delay and implement bilingual pay for hard working Teamsters who have been providing these skills without additional pay for years!
