Waive the $575 Fee for Humanitarian Parole Applications!

The Biden Administration

The Utah Muslim Civic Action needs your help!

Help us support at-risk Afghans! Sign our petition to waive the $575 humanitarian parole application fee.

Humanitarian parole is used to bring someone in an emergency situation to the United States. Many Afghans, especially women’s rights activists and those who had helped the U.S. military forces, now hide from the Taliban to stay alive.

The humanitarian parole application — the last lifeline many at-risk Afghans have — costs $575 per person, including children. For an at-risk family, a parole application could cost thousands of dollars.

We demand that the Biden administration waive this fee. We need your help to advocate for these vulnerable Afghans, many of whom cannot afford this substantial fee.

The Utah Muslim Civic Action and the signers of this petition are greatly saddened by the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. While we are grateful to the United States for the Afghan refugees who have already been admitted into this country, we know that there are many more who need our help. Many Afghans, especially women’s rights activists and those who had helped the U.S. military forces, now hide from the Taliban to stay alive.

The humanitarian parole application — the last lifeline for many at-risk Afghans — currently costs $575/person, including for children. For an at-risk family, a parole application could cost thousands of dollars.

Such a high fee is completely unacceptable. It prohibits the escape of men, women and children, and abandons them to a dangerous and uncertain fate. For many, it is already too late, and our hearts break for those who have been murdered by the Taliban.

We demand that the Biden Administration waive the humanitarian parole application fee for Afghan refugees. This is a simple solution that will remove an enormously prohibitive barrier to at-risk families.

We are grateful for all the efforts the U.S. has already made towards managing the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, and believe in the Biden Administration's ability to continue to do the right thing.
