We need Action on Gun Violence Now

U.S. Senate

A school. A church. A supermarket. A movie theater. A night club. All these places have seen the effects of an uncontrolled gun violence pandemic that is killing Americans every single day. Generation Z has grown up in a world where going a week without a mass shooting is not the rule, but the exception.

Common-sense gun reforms are broadly supported by Americans. Things like universal background checks, restricting  access to assault weapons, closing the "gun show loophole" are not controversial, they are not political, they are live-saving measures that can prevent yet another senseless killing from happening.

H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446 passed the House with bipartisan support, these bills close loopholes in the system and require background checks for any transaction involving a firearm. These bills will keep guns away from people who should not have them, they will help protect us, and they will save lives.

We are tired of waking up to news of mass shootings in our schools, our movie theaters, and our supermarkets. We are tired of worrying every time we hear a popping sound. We are tired of our legislators not acting to protect us.

The House of Representatives has taken action, they have passed bills that will keep guns away from people who should not own them. Now it is time for the U.S. Senate to act.

Senator, it's been proven that background checks save lives. Will you act to protect your constituents and pass the first federal gun safety law in 25 years?
