We Need Democracy Reform
U.S. Congress

After the insurrection on the Capitol earlier this year, many Americans recognized it was time to further embrace the democracy the insurrectionists tried to attack. In a new administration, there is hope that we can enhance our democracy to better benefit all citizens rather than a select few.
Passing legislation to limit money in politics would enhance our nation’s politics, and expanding voting rights and voter access would create a more fair and free democracy. The Senate not only needs to pass the For the People Act, Congress as a whole needs to attack money in politics. Americans cannot trust a legislative body that’s full of corruption with members focused on money and not their ideals.
It’s also time for the District of Columbia to receive statehood. American citizens residing in DC have been denied the rights of those in states, the right to federal representation. They bear the same responsibilities of all Americans, paying federal taxes and taxes to federal programs, with no representation to yield for it. It is time we right the wrong of denying over half a million citizens their full right to representation.
Our democracy is sacred, and we as Americans need to embrace our democracy and support measures to enhance it. We need our democracy to be free and fair for all citizens, and to properly work for the people.

Our democracy came under attack in January of this year, and it is time we support measures to enhance our democracy. Expanding voting rights and voter access, limiting money in politics, and granting DC statehood are all measures that need to be addressed in the new Congress.
Our democracy is sacred, and in order for it to work for the people, it needs to be free and fair for all citizens, not just a select few. Supporting and enhancing our democracy is critical so that no attack on our democracy can prevail.
