We need OSHA Standards for this Pandemic - NOW!
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds
The number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Iowa continues to grow and we need immediate action to protect the lives of Iowa workers. We've now seen across Iowa the disastrous consequences for workers because of this inaction on the part of the state. Iowa has the ability to set an OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) Pandemic Standard for workplaces so Iowans can feel safe coming back to work.

Currently, the health and safety of workers isn't being taken as seriously as it needs to be and we've seen the disastrous consequences of that inaction. Iowa has the ability to set an OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) Pandemic Standard for workplaces so Iowans can feel safe coming back to work.
If we cannot make working conditions in meat packing plants or factories safe or make other essential workplaces safe because we must choose profits over people, we have failed as Iowans. We can and must make working conditions better in these plants, and the best first step we can take is for Iowa to set OSHA pandemic safety standards that are enforceable.
We (the undersigned) demand that Iowa OSHA put in place an enforceable pandemic safety standard that ensures that Iowans will return to safe workplaces. If Iowa is going to reopen, let's do it in a safe and responsible way that minimizes as much risk to workers as possible. Workers are essential, but they are never expendable.
