We need to move forward, not backward, on financial reform
The White House and U.S. Congress
Wall Street and their allies in Congress are already planning to use 2017 to repeal the financial reforms we’ve worked so hard to put in place since the 2008 crisis. From gutting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to loosening rules to let the country’s largest banks grow even larger, the financial sector sees massive potential in having the White House and both chambers of Congress under the control of a single political party. The financial industry hopes that Congress will forget that protecting our financial system has broad, bipartisan support: 96 percent of Democrats and 89 percent of Republicans regard financial regulation as important.

By large margins, Americans want to see financial regulation strengthened, not weakened. We want the financial system to work better for the economy, in order to have the economy work better for all of us. We are counting on you to protect the work of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and to defend our hard-fought financial reforms. We will be watching.
