We Support a United Social Security System

The United States Congress

Republican leadership is pitting current and future retirees against people with disabilities in a cynical attempt to divide us and cut our hard earned Social Security benefits.

Next year, if Congress does not act, Social Security disability benefits for disabled workers, children and veterans could be cut up to 20%. But it doesn’t have to be this way. 43 members of the US Senate and 116 members of the US House of Representatives have already made it clear that they support expanding Social Security benefits by making everyone pay into the program at the same rate. This solution would both increase benefits for us all and prevent another manufactured crisis from Republican leadership.

Stand with the Alliance for Retired Americans and Social Security Works in telling our elected officials in Washington that we support a united and expanded Social Security system. Don’t cut benefits for retirees, people with disabilities, children or veterans!

We support a united Social Security system, which doesn’t leave retirees, people with disabilities, children or veterans behind. We need to expand our Social Security system, not manufacture crises in a cynical attempt to pit Social Security beneficiaries against each other. Whether it’s through reallocation, passing the “One Social Security” act to combine the trust funds, or asking the wealthy to pay their fair share and expanding benefits for millions of Americans, we urge you to drop your attempts at dividing the American people and instead find solutions that expand, not cut earned benefits for millions of Americans.
