We Want a Safer Castor Avenue

We the residents, workers, business owners, and visitors of Castor Ave support the proposed safety measures for this corridor.
Castor Ave from Oxford Circle to Cottman Ave ranks among the most dangerous streets in Philadelphia. From 2018-22 there were 197 crashes along Castor Avenue, five of which were fatalities.
We SUPPORT the PennDOT plan to calm traffic and improve the streetscape through:
- A road diet, which will transform the four-lane existing corridor to two lanes with a planted raised center median and left turn lanes.
- Raised curb extensions & boarding islands for SEPTA stops
- Parking protected bike lanes to minimize pedestrian & vehicle conflicts
