IMPORTANT! THIS EVENT IS AT TWO LOCATIONS!
Part 1: 5:30-7pm outside of Gibney 280 @ 53A Chambers St, New York, NY 10007
Part 2: 7-9:30pm across the street from Gibney 280 at City Hall Park @ Broadway & Chambers St, New York, NY 10007

GALA FOR GAZA is a two-part event that brings together protest and celebration in solidarity with the people of Palestine, exhibiting the liberatory potential of the arts community beyond the constraints of complicit institutions.

First, we are holding a picket outside Gibney’s Gala, making clear to institutional leadership and donors that artists will not be silenced. We continue our demands that the organization:

  1. Reject all future funding contracts affiliated with the Israeli government and any future tours in Israel, as long as the occupation and apartheid system continue;
  2. Take an active step towards solidarity by signing the PACBI (Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel) pledge;
  3. Issue a public statement expressing alignment with our demands and solidarity with Palestine.

Then, we are holding our own Gala across the street at City Hall Park emphasizing community, collective liberation, and true art as resistance! There will be:

  • An open mic with performers and speakers (interested in performing? Stay tuned for the sign up form!)
  • Messages + remote performances from dance artists in Palestine
  • Arts + crafts, refreshments, and raffles!

Tickets are available at all price points - pay what you can! All proceeds will be split between:

  • Camp Breakerz Crew in Gaza, which continues their daily mission of bringing arts education and expression to young people, even in the face of genocide.
  • Palestinian Youth Movement - NY which is dedicated to local grassroots organizing for the liberation of Palestine.

If you cannot attend in person, you can still donate in support here, and check out Gala performances + speeches on our insta live!

Accessibility:

This event is outdoors in public spaces. In the first portion, protesters will be outside of Gibney 280 on the sidewalk. In the second portion, the celebration will move to City Hall Park. There will be no stairs on our route. Ground may be uneven and there may not be extensive seating options. Unfortunately, there are not public restrooms, and we cannot guarantee the accessibility of restrooms in nearby businesses. There is a field for access needs at the end of this form.
