The Vinguard is holding a wine and environmental justice conference on June 9 in San Francisco, the day before WINeFare. We feel that like-minded wine professionals should band together to create safer conditions for industry workers and the communities surrounding our businesses, especially in the production sector. While there are many important issues, we will focus on pesticide and water usage.
We’re having this conference so that we can be better informed, and working with one another, take action. The conference will begin with a panel discussion, including expert representatives from impacted communities and wine industry professionals. Afterward, we will break up into small groups for discussion and then come back together and commit to the next steps.
A $40 fee to attend the conference will help us cover the cost of a boxed lunch and speaker fees. Attendees will also get free admission to WINeFare the next day. The conference is open to everyone who works in the wine industry, but seating is limited, so please RSVP asap.
