Call Congress today: Tell them to open our government and take care of We the People

NETWORK Lobby calls for the end of the government shutdown. Will you join us and call your Members of Congress to tell them to re-open the government?

We are in the midst of the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history, and it has left millions of us locked out of our jobs, healthcare, food assistance, and more. Today, November 4, NETWORK and our faith partners are going to Capitol Hill to call on Congress to negotiate an end to the shutdown--now.

We will urge Congress to pass a bipartisan solution that ends the shutdown, ensures health coverage, and protects vital programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You can join us, too, from your home!

Will you call your Senators and Representative today and tell them to negotiate an end to the government shutdown?

For Your Phone Calls: Our Asks to Congress & Facts to Share

  • Congress must demand that the Trump administration fully release SNAP contingency funding so our families can eat while the shutdown continues. Under past shutdowns, during both Republican and Democratic administrations, SNAP benefits have always been provided using available funding sources to prevent a break in benefits.
  • Congress must pass a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) that puts our people back to work, fixes the healthcare crisis, and ensures that our families have the food they need and deserve to thrive.
  • Health care: 24 million people are learning that their 2026 Affordable Care Act (ACA) premiums are skyrocketing due to more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and the ACA. Nearly five million people are expected to immediately begin losing coverage.
  • Why have the ACA premiums increased? In the budget that congressional Republicans passed this summer (H.R.1), they funded tax cuts for billionaires--instead of using the money for We the People to extend the premium tax credits that made ACA health care more affordable, or to fully fund Medicaid and Medicare.
  • Food: 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP for healthy meals are not receiving their benefits. Why? Because the Trump Administration is choosing to withhold SNAP funding. One in eight Americans rely on SNAP. People are going hungry. This is a sin!  Under past shutdowns, during both Republican and Democratic administrations, SNAP benefits have always been provided using available funding sources to prevent a break in benefits.

Thank you for your advocacy. Together, we will let Congress know that our Spirit-filled community demands dignity for all of us--no exceptions!
