July 1 – The Senate voted to pass the Big Ugly Budget bill 51-50, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. There were a few more last minute changes, but the whole bill is still absolutely horrible – It will kill American citizens, starve children, destroy the climate, and give the regime a massive secret police force with which to arrest, deport, or disappear anyone they dislike without due process.

Attention now shifts back to the House, where the bill passed just before Memorial Day with exactly one vote to spare. Initial reports are that the House is unhappy with the Senate's changes, though not always for reasons we can condone (wanting more cruelty and suffering in the bill is not a good reason to vote no). But it does indicate that there's still time and opportunity to stop the bill.
