- Oct. 20: Local Treasurer Training (5:00PM)—This class will cover the Financial Standards Code as well as the surety bond, LUAFR, and IRS 990 forms that need to be completed annually. This is a great class for newly elected treasurers as well as those looking for a refresher.
- Oct. 27: Running an Effective Local Union (7:00PM)—Strong local unions don’t just happen; they require a team that knows their roles and responsibilities, all working together for a common goal and the common good. This workshop for executive board members and officers will cover establishing productive group norms and other practices for success.
- Nov. 03: Representing Members in Disciplinary Cases (7:00PM)—The lion’s share of stewarding work involves making sure our members are treated fairly when facing potential discipline. This workshop will cover conducting thorough investigations, defending our members’ legal rights, and getting the best outcome when the evidence is not in our favor.
- Nov. 10: Contract Campaigns (7:00PM)—In contract negotiations, what happens away from the bargaining table is as Important as what happens at the bargaining table. This workshop will cover creating a strategy to apply maximum pressure on the employer using direct action tactics that not only results in a better contract, but also builds a stronger union.
- Nov. 16: New Employee Outreach (7:00PM)—A wave of recent retirements means that we are also seeing many new faces in the workplace. Integrating those new co-workers into the union takes more than a fifteen minute “sales pitch.” This workshop will cover creating an NEO program of relationship-building from day one through the first year.
